Recently I wondered why I
default to English in this space.
Is it a matter of reach? Or am I truly "brain bilingual"? Thus English and Spanish are
really equivalent for me? (Spoiler, no, they are not... 🙂) Or something else entirely?
As I shared in that post, I recently started learning Japanese. I am looking up translations
for words and symbols kanji often.
In one of those instances, I noticed that I mostly do it to/from English. I connected this to
my earlier question and the answer came to me, like a revelation.
I see English as the "default online and computer language".
In years of yore, Microsoft published a lot of documentation on C#, .NET, IIS, etc. in
Spanish. But I would always go for the English version.
Unless I am looking up something specifically related to Spanish or Argentina, I search the
web English.
Ditto for Claude chats, the ones for tech topics are "obviously" in English. But
really, using Spanish is more the exception than the rule.
So, that's why. The answer is not very interesting. But it makes perfect sense.
