Consumer mode (content, not buying)

I haven't been writing that much lately, I realized yesterday that it is because I am in consumer mode rather then author/generator mode.

In the last month or so I watched Blue Box (and read the manga), read Hija de la Fortuna by Isabel Allende (and started the follow up novel, Retrato en Sepia). Watched season 2 of Slow Horses. Then watched the three seasons of Spy x Family. Started reading another comic (Horimiya). And then started reading A Gentleman in Moscow, which I checked out from the library for the office Book Club.
To top it off, I finally finished playing FIST. I intent to write a short review about it.[1] And then at last started playing Forza Horizon 4.

Last week I was thinking about all the other """projects""" or things I am meaning to do, and clearly the day doesn't have that many hours. I am already putting off sleep quite a bit as it is...... (yes I know it is bad, but it is what it is).
I am also a bit behind on my RSS feeds, but I don't see those as an obligation. I don't follow that many blogs, to be honest.

Interestingly, what offered me moments of reprieve from this stream of content input has been fishing. Nopes, I still didn't catch any fish. :) But for example, last Friday at 5pm the tide on the Hackensack was high, so I headed to a nearby park on my bike, with the rod and a few lures in a backpack, and spent almost an hour and a half just releasing the line, slowly pulling it back, repeat repeat repeat.
A couple times I moved to another spot of the park. A couple others I tried a different lure.
And that's all there was to it. I just was, standing out in the sun, wind on my face, and the lure launching through the air, making a little plop on the water surface, slowly retrieve, start over.

(You can tell I didn't plan to talk about fishing because it is nowhere in the title, but now it is too late to change it)

I was meaning to make a post in the NJ fishing subreddit to share my experience and a photo of the lures I used to get feedback on whether they were appropriate, and maybe tips on how to do better, but I also didn't do that (yet?).

Strange days...
Oh also Juan and I are watching a lot of World Cup games. 😎

  1. And also about another book I read a few months ago, "Fake Work: How I Began to Suspect Capitalism Is a Joke".
